No matter how much love young parents give their children, they will always be cranky and grouchy in the mornings when going out to preschool. Parents in the end have to yell or force them to leave the house. Here’s a solution to minimize preschool children’s frustration and grumpiness and make mornings merrier

Handing over Control

To make mornings merrier, parents need to realize that every human being likes to have control and power in their hands. Make them feel that they are a part of the decision-making team in the house just like their parents.

Instead of using sentences like; “Go brush your teeth”, “Take a bath”, “Pack your bag” etc., parents can perform an activity of art & craft and let the children make their Daily Chores Chart. Paste it on the wall and ask them to follow it.

Reward the children

Using words of encouragement is very necessary when parents are dealing with preschool children. Also, giving them healthy treats for doing a job that they were assigned to is a symbol of give and take.

They perform the work and get appreciation in the form of goodies. Some of the healthy treats can be; fruits, healthy snacks, a probiotic drink, and sometimes chocolates and packed treats can be taken as an option.

Buffer time

Creating a buffer time is essential to be punctual in the morning routines. If you think they take 5-10 min in packing bags and wear shoes, wake them up accordingly. A 15-20 min buffer time is very necessary to make mornings merrier with preschool children

This will ease those slower days and dilly-dallying among the children and also the parents will be relaxed because they know that they still have time.

Question yourself beforehand

Parents must question themselves from time to time about how they will manage their children’s every need in advance. Questions like, “Am I going to fulfill my child’s need”, and “Are we always late? Can we still make out in time”.

To make merrier mornings and a happy schedule with their children, parents should always try to cope with new methods and tricks and question themselves about what more they can do.

Make a Bedtime schedule

A bedtime schedule for preschool children is very necessary. Sleeping at late hours will automatically lead to a delay in waking up the next morning. To avoid this delay, parents must schedule their child’s time to sleep and make sure that even they follow the rule.

Children follow their parents’ habits and routines and thus, young parents need to have a proper schedule themselves.

Pack a tasty yet healthy lunch

To make mornings merrier with preschool children, parents should know that almost every child’s happiness depends upon the food they are eating. They will be attracted to going to school if parents prepare a tasty and healthy lunch every day to share with their friends.

Conclusion

Practicing these easy peasy tricks will lead you to a merrier morning with preschool children and finally, you will feel happy, relaxed, and carefree about the next day’s preparations.

To know if a child requires Montessori education lets first know what it actually means. The Montessori Method was first developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the early 1900s by applying scientific methods in public and private schools.

It is a method where each child is nurtured with his individual desire for knowledge and understanding. It involves a child’s natural interests and needs rather than providing formal education. By making a child independent to form his opinions about the learning process the teacher analysis and guide them to the right path in the future. Are you a working mother? Do you feel exhausted at the end of the day and it’s quite difficult in balancing work and balancing life all at once? We agree that raising preschool kids is quite a task especially when you are a working mother. The title “Working mother” is loaded with ideals, pressure, misconceptions, and expectations. Here’s how you can help yourself:

Believe in your decision

Working or not working, always believe in yourself and trust yourself that you can do whatever you choose. If someone asks you why are you working then you should already have an answer for yourself of why choosing overburden in front of just comfortably raising your child. And when it comes to overburdening, it is as true as it gets when you go to work every morning and leave your child in a preschool. It is emotionally drenching as well. A motherly doubt will always arrive whether you’re doing the right thing. At the end of the day, all that matters is your peace of mind.

Clarify what being a mother means to you

Almost all of us grew up with a mother. We learned, made mistakes, were taught, and got scolded by her. This is how we are going to raise our own child but a little differently. As a working mother, one must ensure their ideologies about how they are going to raise their children and what environment they want to give the child while balancing life.

Invest in good Help

Who says you have to do all the things alone? Children have a father as well as a working mother who doesn’t need to do it all alone. Take help from either it could be your family member or a professional one. Being comfortable and actively participating is all that a child needs to be taken care of. Balancing life and balancing work requires help and one should never be afraid to ask for it.

Take necessary energy traps

One thing that every working mother can relate to is loss of energy. This lack of energy can make it hard to actively participate in your preschool kid’s growing stages. To be energetic and healthy, a working mother should take the necessary supplements and healthy food that will help their tired body to stay active a little longer. Keeping morning exercise routines and intake of necessary fluids and foods will help in balancing work and balancing life better.

Become your own caregiver

Nobody knows our minds and body the way we know them. And to nurture yourself, balancing work and life is essential too. Being a mother is the most hardworking job in the world so, appreciate, relax, rejuvenate and take care of yourself.

Learn to Say No

Working Mothers or mothers, in general, should always know that they can also say No sometimes and let their better half do the things for the children. After all, this is what balancing work and balancing life are.

With the ongoing turbulence in the air quality, it is essential for parents to protect themselves and their children from Air pollution which has created a lot of buzz in recent times for worsening everyone’s health. Especially Delhi and its neighbouring cities have been trapped with such smog that there is very low visibility in the atmosphere.

Reasonably, the toxic air makes everyone cough and irritates the eyes, causing throat infections, viral fevers, and severe headaches. The condition gets worse for people suffering from asthma and cardiovascular diseases.

AQI in Delhi these days is getting worse day by day which varies from 363 to 497 whereas it should be 100 and below. This toxic air is leading to worsening the health of the citizens. These are just the minor symptoms, but the condition is worse for so many individuals and it is essential to protect especially the teeny tots. To protect your preschool kids from air pollution, here are a few tips:

  • Measure the AQI and Set a time for them, suitable to play outside

Measuring the AQI will let you figure out at what time it is the least and when the toxic air is at its peak. With surveys, it is measured that one should avoid morning time for exercising and going out as the smog is too much during that period.

  • Using Masks Outdoors

Whenever you go out, there are more chances of the Toxic air going down in your lungs and harming the body. To reduce the impact, one should put on normal cloth masks or surgical masks in daily use.

  • Usage of Fans over Air Conditioners

Over time, air conditioners collect bacteria and dust, and when the AC is turned on, these substances are released into the home and environment which causes air pollution.

  • Prohibiting smoking near children

Of course, smoking is very harmful to everyone and it is very important to realize that the toxic air that is going into your lungs is equal to smoking. So why make the situation worse? One should not smoke and if you do, please do not smoke near children.

  • Keeping Hygiene and cleanliness around

Hygiene and Cleanliness lead to a healthy life. Keeping your house clean is a must but more importantly, if you keep your surroundings clean, there are fewer chances of catching germs, harmful bacteria, and viruses.

  • Eating Healthy food and increasing the intake of water

Having lots of green vegetables, fruits, and water intake is very necessary during this period. Avoid processed and streetside unhygienic food.

  • Growing Air Purifying plants

Plants and trees are good sources of clean air or oxygen and cut down the effects of toxic air. Keep Planting…

  • Regular exercising to boost immunity

Exercising regularly and taking immunity boosters like Honey+turmeric+tulti water and doing salt gargles will help in fighting air pollution.

This century is leading us in a tech-friendly world for adults and more importantly the gen-z kids who know all their ways to use mobile phones. Earlier fooling kids was a flex but now with dynamically advancing technology, parents cannot get ahold of them.

The COVID-19 era changed everything. From going to school every day to attending classes while laying on their bed, children have now easy access to their parents’ phones as compared to earlier times.

This easy access leads to preschool kids watching obnoxious visuals and learning things that they shouldn’t know at such a young age. Most parents seem annoyed and distressed about how can they make kids reduce screen time and encourage them for outdoor activities. In order to do that, parents must read these 10 ways to reduce screen time.

1. Set a Standard

Preschool kids usually learn what they see in their surroundings, especially their families. To realise that it is not good for them, it should not also be good for the parents to use mobile phones frequently in their presence. Therefore, setting an example will help motivate kids to play outside and reduce screen time.

2. Take Kids to explore the surroundings

Instead of being a lazy parent, one must be the active one to keep their kids involved. Interaction with surroundings is a major part of this process. Parents can take their children to parks, let them make friends in the neighbourhood, play with puppies etc.

3. Create a Bucket List of Outdoor games

Outdoor activities are an essential part of the skilful development of a child. Sports experiences help build positive self-esteem in children. Motivating kids to play outside can be a helpful way of reducing stress and increasing feelings of physical and mental well-being, as well as fighting against juvenile delinquency, conflict and aggressive outbursts. Making a list of their child’s favourite outdoor game for a week will help to reduce screen time and they will enjoy outdoor activities rather than indoor ones.

4. Set a Schedule

To motivate kids to play outside, parents should set a proper schedule/timetable for them to reduce screen time. Starting from waking up children must feel active in the first half of the day. To avoid mobile phones, make a timetable that has all the information about activities to be performed throughout the day. A little time for using mobile phones (1 hour per day according to studies) at one point of their favourite tv series would be enough.

5. Put conditions on Tech-time

Negotiating terms & conditions to help the children in regular public dealings.

6. Encourage them to choose Sports

Sports help children in building self-confidence, self-esteem, discipline social skills, patience, teamwork, perseverance and accepting defeat with a positive approach.

7. Sigh them up for extra-curricular activities like dance, Music, art & crafts etc.

8. Try alternative healthy activities to enhance preschool kids learning and creativity:

  • Help in the kitchen
  • Reading & Cursive Writing
  • Art & Crafts
  • Building Blocks/ Robotime
  • Solving Puzzles & Riddles
  • Prepare Mystery/ Treasure Hunts in the house

9. Volunteering in household chores like cleaning, watering plants etc.

10. Creating a Phone-Free zone at home to reduce screen time.

Dussehra is a festival celebrated in the autumn season right after the Navratri( 9 nights) and the 10th Day is worshipped in the name of Lord Ram’s homecoming.

It is said that Lord Ram worshipped Goddess Durga before starting his journey to defeat Ravana the King of Lanka made of gold, on Lord Vishnu’s advice.

Dussehra is also called Vijaydashmi; the execution of the 10-headed Ravana, who abducted Ram’s wife Sita which took place on the 10th day.

It is important for the preschool kids to get to know about a fearless warrior of Hindu mythology who fought for his wife’s dignity and respect even though it was not an easy battle. Dussehra is a custom of felicitating “Good over Evil.”

For the playschool kids, the idea of Dussehra is to go to the evergreen Ramlila or watch the effigies burning in a big ground with hundreds of people. But have the parents told them its significance? Let’s read a story inscribing Dussehra activities for a fun-learning session:

Fun-learning Story as a Dussehra Activity

  • Once upon a time, there was a Prince of Ayodhya named Ram who was married to Sita. He had 3 siblings; Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughan.
  • Ram was given a 14-year exile in the jungles and was accompanied by his wife Sita and brother Lakshman.
  • One fine day, when Ram went hunting a golden deer for Sita, he left Lakshman to take care of his wife. But Lakshman failed to do so and Sita got kidnapped by Ravana.
  • Lord Ram made his army to save his wife. 2 armies fought for days before Ram slew Raavan and saved his wife from the clutches of evil.
  • Ravana, his brother Kumbhakarana and his son Meghnath were said to be the main culprit of this misdeed. This is why their effigies are burned on the day of Dussehra to commemorate Lord Ram’s victory for Good over Evil.

Dussehra Activities for Preschool Kids

Activities are a helpful and practical source when it comes to making the playschool kids understand the importance of something. Here are a few Dussehra activities that might help the parents and teachers in order to divulge children with our roots.

  1. Folk Art Form “Ramleela” — A Play could be enacted where children can play different roles in the story of Ramayana
  2. Noting down the “Goods” and “Evils” among children and destroying the latter. For example, Being lazy-evil, Being punctual- Good, Doing Homework on time- Good, Not going to bed on time- Evil, misbehaving- Evil, Taking care of Nature- Good
    3. Story Telling by the Teacher. Also, telling the kids that a person can be both Good and Evil but it depends on us that we choose Good over Evil.
    4. Visit a Fair
    5. Fancy Dress Competition- telling the class about their individual characters and how they can choose Good over evil
    6. Watching documentaries and series of Ramayana

For children, it is essential that they must learn the basic goods and evils of society for their well-being. The bottom line is that Dussehra activities help preschool kids learn and develop critical thinking.
