Raksha Bandhan (23 rd August’ 2018)
Festivals are the celebrations of togetherness, celebration of being one family. Raksha Bandhan is one such occasion. It celebrates the chaste bond of love between a brother and sister. On this day sisters tie a thread known ‘rakhi’ on the wrist of their brothers which marks that the brother will take good care of his sister and will always stand by her side through the thicks and thins of the life. This festival speaks about the rich culture and traditions of our country. To help our kids learn about these traditions and culture we celerated raksha bandhan in our school. Students participated in rakhi making activity. They made attractive rakhis with the material brought by them. Then they tied their self made rakhis to the wrist of their siblings followed by proper rituals like – aarti, tikka, offering sweets etc. In return brothers presented their sisters small gifts, chocolates as a token of love. The colourful attires, innocent smiles and retro songs on raksha bandhan brightened the atmosphere.
